Our commitments to sustainability

4 min read

Recently, we decided to formalise our commitments to sustainability by joining the memberships of leading programs providing structures and accountability to reduce carbon footprint and emissions and ultimately reducing the warming of our planet.

3 scopes of emissions to monitor

The 3 scopes of emissions refer to the three categories used to classify greenhouse gas emissions based on their source and environmental impact. These scopes are essential for businesses and organisations to understand and manage their carbon footprint effectively.

  • Scope 1 emissions include direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the organisation, such as on-site fuel combustion and vehicle emissions.
  • Scope 2 emissions cover indirect emissions from purchased electricity, heat, or steam the organisation uses.
  • Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions from the organisation's activities, including business travel, supply chain emissions, and employee commuting.

By considering and addressing all three scopes of emissions, businesses can implement strategies to reduce their overall environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Understanding and managing these emissions is crucial in the fight against climate change and can lead to improved efficiency, cost savings, and a positive reputation in the market.

RACE TO ZERO

Race to Zero is a global campaign rallying non-state actors – including companies, cities, regions, financial, educational, and healthcare institutions – to take rigorous and immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a healthier, fairer, net zero world.

We committed to the RACE TO ZERO via joining the SME Climate Hub.

The SME Climate Hub is a non-profit global initiative that empowers small to medium-sized companies to take climate action and build resilient businesses for the future.

By joining this initiative, we can access resources and support to help our business reduce its carbon footprint and manage its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions effectively.

The Hub is an initiative of the We Mean Business Coalition, the Exponential Roadmap Initiative and the United Nations Race to Zero campaign in collaboration with Normative and the Net Zero team at Oxford University.SME Climate Hub badge

Pledge to Net Zero

We also publicly signed the Pledge to Net Zero. The Pledge is the environmental industry’s global commitment, requiring its signatories to set science-based targets to tackle greenhouse gas emissions within their organisations.

Pledging to net zero involves setting ambitious targets, implementing sustainable practices, and continuously monitoring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions across all scopes. This proactive approach benefits the environment and strengthens our company's reputation, attracts environmentally conscious customers, and positions us as leaders in the race towards a greener future.
